ABOUT BENJAMIN CHIDIEBERE OKPARA

Benjamin Chidiebere Okpara was born on September 1, 1998, in New York City. He was the first son of John O. and Christiana I. Okpara. Benjamin graduated from Cambria Heights Academy in Queens, New York, in 2016. At Cambria Heights, he was a member of the student council and the basketball team. He was a first-semester college freshman before he was called home to be with the Lord. Ben was fond of his brother Daniel and sister Abigail and was protective of them. Benjamin loved the Lord and gave his life to Jesus when he was six years old. A year later, he composed a song titled “Jesus Is Mine.” This song has been a theme song in our daily family devotions. We love you Ben. Rest In Peace until we meet again.

About Us

Founded in 2017, the Benjamin Chidiebere Okpara Foundation (BCOF) is a 501 (C) (3) TAX EXEMPT Organization that empowers young men and women with the knowledge and resources needed to successfully complete a higher education and provides scholarships and support services to many exceptional students from Okigwe Local Government Area in Imo State, Nigeria. BCOF also seeks to give its scholars all the tools they need to do well in their coursework ; graduate; enter and excel in a profession to enable them to lead our community, state, and nation going forward; and mentor the generations to come.

Our vision is to create a sustainable endowment program for low-income and poor students to empower them to reach their fullest potential and compete in the global economy.

At Benjamin Chidiebere Okpara Foundation (BCOF) , Our mission is to empower low-income and poor young men and women who would otherwise not have been able to complete high school or attend college with resources to successfully complete a higher education, while providing scholarships and support services to as many exceptional students as possible.

Education

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be rrent high school senior or hold a West Afreligible for this award:

Demonstrate at school, in the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, respect, drive, resilience, honesty, and peace; be hardworking and, most important , God-fearing.
Be a cuican School Certificate, GCE, or other recognized diploma.
Be pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited university.
Write a personal statement.
Complete a scholarship application.

Scholarships and Awards

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this award:

Demonstrate at school, in the workplace, and within the community the attributes of leadership, respect, drive, resilience, honesty, and peace; be hardworking and, most important , God-fearing.
Be a current high school senior or hold a West African School Certificate, GCE, or other recognized diploma.
Be pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited university.

Complete a scholarship application.

Funding

The Foundation will do the following:

Select students on the basis of financial need, academic potential, and character.
Disburse grants directly to students or their institutions.
Provide an annual opportunity to apply for renewal in all student funding programs until degree completion or a minimum of eight semesters.
